Description

A common problem with the NV200 occurs when you can’t open one of the sliding doors from the outside of the vehicle. This occurs when a weak metal bracket gets bent inside the sliding door lock mechanism. It is a fairly easy fix. First remove the plastic handle unit held on by 2 screws. Next take off the black felt door panel. Now you can see the full mechanism. Operate the door open mechanism from the inside, and compare the movement when you operate the mechanism from the outside. You will observe a much smaller travel distance of the locking lever when you operate the defective outside handle. Now take a pair of pliers and bend the metal angle bracket backwards as shown in the picture with my finger pointing to the bracket. Now the mechanism will operate a longer distance and will open the door from the outside. To keep this from happening again – strengthen the metal bracket with silicone, glue, or whatever you have handy. I used some hard setting “Form-A-Gasket” stuff I had lying around and stuck a washer in it for extra strength. Reassemble and your good to go.
